Broward County Business and Professional Women’s Network Celebrates 20 Years of Purposeful Impact, Honors Founders and Local Heroes

This year’s theme, “Moving Forward with Purpose: Building Success Through Dedication and Excellence, While Embracing Our Youth,” commemorates two decades of community empowerment, visionary leadership, and a steadfast commitment to mentoring the next generation.
Sojourner Truth Award: Rose D. Moorman, Technologist – The organization's highest national honor, recognizing a woman whose life reflects the courage, leadership, and principles of Sojourner Truth. In 1967, Ms. Moorman made history as the first African American and the second woman to be recruited into the General Electric Missile and Space Division’s Space Technological Engineering Program (STEP), where she contributed to the trajectory calculations for missions from Earth to the Moon. In 1968, she was featured on the cover of Talent Magazine and profiled as an "Up and Coming Technologist."
Professional Achievement Award: Councilwoman Katrina L. Baskin
Book Scholarship Recipient: Tyjai Jordin Smith, Nova High School, Davie to Florida International University
